The Tourism Management Division hosted Prof Dimitris Koutoulas from the University of Patras in Greece during September 2015.

As expert in destination marketing, he provided valuable insights into current global trends for strategy development. During the visit he presented a guest lecture on local municipality involvement in destination marketing to delegates attending the Tourism Capacity Building course hosted by CE@UP for the National Department of Tourism. He also presented a conceptual model for the development of gastronomy tourism in a destination.

Future collaboration will include a case study application of the model in the South African context.
