A glimpse at the breathtaking beauty of Portugal

Posted on October 11, 2010

As one of Portugal’s most famous poets, Fernando Pessoa, once said “What we are cannot be transfused into word or book.”

The Portugal exhibition was manned by students of the faculty: Fedra Dos Santos and Ogaga Udjo, both BCom Tourism Management students, Gorette Da Silva, a BCom Marketing Management student and Daniel De Caires, a BCom Law student.

Visitors to the exhibition were introduced to a fascinating history of Portugal that included the Islands Madeira and the breathtaking beauty of the “lost Atlantis” Azores, the adventurous navigators Vasco de Gama and Fernão de Magalhães; the melancholic Portuguese style of singing Fado; well known Portuguese faces such as the real Madrid soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo and the President of the European Union, José Manuel Durão Barroso. Visitors were also treated to traditional Portuguese foods such as: Biscoitos de Nozes (nut biscuits), Croquetes (beef and pork croquettes) and Chorizo (a type of pork sausage).
