CEARV strategic goals/ aims/ purpose

CEARV will achieve our goals and objectives through the following strategic objectives:

  • As part of diagnostic stewardship, is to develop point of care and multi-pathogen diagnostic systems, pathogen discovery tools and genomic surveillance for solving of outbreaks and rapid detection of emerging and re-emerging arbo and respiratory viruses.

  • To use integrated syndromic surveillance for febrile, respiratory, and neurological disease in humans to determine the burden of disease and epidemiology of viruses of local and global health importance in humans.

  • One Health surveillance in animals and the environment including wastewater and vectors, and as early warning system of disease outbreaks.

  • To understand the immunology and pathogenesis of emerging and reemerging arbo and respiratory viruses to aid in preventative and treatment options including therapeutics and vaccines.

  • To use climatic, geographic and epidemiological risk factors to predict outbreaks and mitigate the effect of climate change and global expansion of vectors, reservoirs and human migration.
