Research Focus

The research focus of the Centre for Diversity and Social Cohesion is twofold:

  1. Investigating and exploring diversity and social cohesion, particularly in education,

as a complex trans-disciplinary, multidisciplinary and intra-disciplinary phenomenon insocieties. The focus of the research will be on social, cultural and cognitive justice education; addressing all kinds of (in)equalities, namely, race, identities, ethnicity, culture, socio-economic status, class, language, gender, religion, nationalities, political orientation, disabilities, rurality that are produced and reproduced in educational spaces by educational processes, discourses and practices.

  1. Promoting Global South knowledge on diversity and social cohesion (with an emphasis on Africa) in existing diversity discourses worldwide through systematic scientific inquiry.
