Just because you have a degree, doesn’t mean you plan on entering the commercial workforce. Many graduates aspire to become an entrepreneur and build their own business. This, of course, requires a whole extra set of skills, which is why Career Services has established entrepreneurship courses.
Entrepreneurship is another important skill that provides students and graduates with an opportunity for self-employment, while simultaneously promoting employability and job creation. Requisite entrepreneurial skills are seen as a driver of change in seeking self-sufficiency and job creation. Therefore, in addition to the Ready for Work programme, students can also enrol for the online Entrepreneurship Programme (a professional online development short course) that forms part of the Ready for Work initiative.
There are various opportunities at UP for training in entrepreneurship, from formal degrees to informal online courses:
During this course you will learn the skills necessary to become a successful entrepreneur. In order to help you achieve your business goals, UP has made various tools and an expert skills pool available to help students develop their business ideas to fruition.
The course is open to all students, regardless of their field of study. The skills and support offerings are transferable to any entrepreneurial environment, whether your business idea is based on selling for profit, or offering a product or service for social change and improving lives.
