TuksNetball launches innovative online coaching programme to motivate youngsters

Desperate times require desperate measures, which is why TuksNetball's head coach Jenny van Dyk resorted to becoming a "movie producer". She is, however, not planning to do so fulltime. It was pure passion and concern for netball that made her do it. The last thing Van Dyk wants is for young players to get despondent due to them not being able to train or play.

"It is essential for players to remain active and to be challenged daily. That is why we as TuksNetball launched an online coaching programme. It enables us to be interactive with any player between six and 24 who is passionate about the sport."

Van Dyk temporarily took up the role of “movie producer” to create awareness for what they aim to do. Anyone who cares to watch will be inspired as in less than two minutes they will get an idea of what it takes to become a champion player.

According to the Tuks coach, there is always that one moment of truth when heroes will rise, and new stars shine. "The aim of the programme is not only to help players improve their netball skills. The players will be advised on what strength and conditioning exercises they should do. We will post the necessary graphics so there can be no confusion. Players will also get to learn how they should go about to do a video analysis of a game. They must understand the rules and be clued up on possible tactics. A well-informed player is one who can win games at any crucial moment.

"But it is also about having fun. There will be individual challenges. Young players who are not scared to push themselves to the limit could earn the bragging rights on outperforming their idols. One of the exciting aspects of our programmes is that it allows youngsters to interact and learn from experienced players," Van Dyk explained.
