The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings for 2019 have been released, and the University of Pretoria (UP) has achieved new rankings in two subjects: Physical Sciences and  Psychology.

Established in 2004, The Times Higher Education World University Rankings provide a definitive list of the world's best universities, which are evaluated according to, among other factors, quality of teaching, research, international outlook, and reputation. THE’s data is trusted by governments and universities, and forms an important resource for students to use when choosing where to study.

According to the THE rankings,  UP is  ranked in the 501-600 range of universities in Physical Sciences worldwide, while in Psychology it features in the 401+ range of universities.

Last month the University was ranked by THE in three new subjects:  Education; Business and Economics; and Social Sciences. Additionally, UP’s Law subject ranking improved by 16 positions, bringing its Faculty of Law into the top 80 in the world. The University’s Law offering catapulted from 92 to 76 among the top 187 universities in Law in the world. According to THE’s ratings, UP is now ranked in the 301–400 range of universities in Education worldwide. UP is also ranked in the 301–400 range in Business and Economics, and in the 401-500 range of universities in the world in Social Sciences.

These new rankings also reaffirm that the University of Pretoria has programmes which help make our graduates highly employable.”
