TuksClub 60+ donates and selects a new committee

Alumni who belong to TuksClub 60+ joined forces to donate to the Tuks Scholarship Fund. Members of this special club graduated before most of the recipients of the Tuks Scholarship Fund were born, and still retain a special bond with their alma mater.

The group donated R6 000 to the fund that aims to provide scholarships for deserving students whose only impediment to pursuing a tertiary education is a lack of finance.

The TuksClub 60+ AGN took place in the UP Conference Centre on 12 February and was attended by 54 alumni. The newly elected 2015 committee consists of Mr Louis Cloete, Ms Elise Pretorius, Mr Bert Badenhorst (who all served on the 2014 committee) and two new members, Dr André Breedt and Mr Gert Potgieter.

 Food and Wine Guild

The Alumni Food and Wine Guild presented their Valentine Wine-tasting and Food Pairing event on 13 February. Eighty alumni attended the event and tasted wines from Wandsbeck Winery in the Pretoria Country Club’s Grand Lounge. Alumnus Johan Muller handled the tasting and Prof Roelf Sandenbergh delivered a message highlighting the direction in which the University is heading as well as the importance for alumni to contribute to and be actively involved with their alma mater.
