TuksGymnastics: Ryan Patterson to participate at the Rio Olympic Test Event

Ryan Patterson, a TuksGymnastics athlete,  has qualified to participate at the Rio Olympic Test Event, to be held 16 -24 April 2016 at the Rio Olympic Arena in Brazil. The 2015 FIG Artistic World Championships are currently underway in Glasgow Scotland, 23 October–01 November. This event has been qualifiers, and has seen Patterson score a total of 82.132 after competing all 6 apparatus, and finish in 73rd place out of 182 in the Men’s Artistic All-round Qualifications. Patterson has also attained a fantastic first place among Africa contenders at the Championships, with the second Africa contender that of Algerian gymnast Bourguieg Mohamed Abdeldjalil, who attained 83th place.

As per SAGF CEO, Tseko Mogotsi, “The Federation would like to congratulate Ryan on this fantastic achievement on qualifying for the Rio Test Event. We look forward to seeing him compete at the Test Event, where he has an opportunity to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games and become South Africa’s first Men’s Artistic Gymnast to compete at an Olympics since 1956”.
