Prof Rhena Delport is a medical scientist and educator and has completed a PhD in Medicine (Chemical Pathology), and a Masters' degree in Medical Physiology and in Education. She is an established researcher (NRF rating: C2), evidenced by 91 papers in peer-reviewed journals; 134 conference papers at national and international conferences and a Scopus 2023: h-index=24, Citations 3269 (Scopus, 2023 - orcid.org/0000-0002-6274-0923). Prof Delport has participated in self-initiated and other projects in biochemistry, clinical pathology, environmental toxicology, genetics, education and cardiology. She currently serves as national project manager for the global Stent-Save a Life Initiative of the European Society of Cardiology and was a member of a working group that aims to develop a blueprint for the management of heart attacks that is globally applicable. She is currently appointed within the Community-Oriented Primary Care Research Unit, University of Pretoria, as project manager of a longitudinal survey within the South African Population Research Infrastructure Network (SAPRIN) GRT-I Urban HDSS node. She serves on the editorial board of the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa and the African Journal of Health Professions Education. She has supervised 4 Masters' and two PhD students and is currently supervising an MSc in Public Health.
