Record attendance at Auditory Neuropathy workshops

Posted on March 26, 2009

The four excellent international speakers, sponsored by the Daniel's Fund, work at the Bill Daniel's Center for Children's Hearing in the Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado, USA.

The workshop provided the latest information on this challenging and surprisingly common type of hearing loss to allow for more precise diagnosis and more appropriate options for intervention and support. It was an official follow-up of the Consensus Conference on Auditory Neuropathy which coincided with the 2008 NHS meeting at Lake Como, Italy.

It was a resounding success with record attendance across the two workshops held in Pretoria and Cape Town on 24 & 26 March 2009. This broad exposure to current guidelines and standard of care for children with auditory neuropathy is a first step to better service delivery for these patients' special needs in South Africa.
