Witkoppen Health and Welfare Centre to validate vide-otoscopy for remote diagnosis of ear disease.
A trained telehealth facilitator is utilised to take brief video clips of the ear canal and eardrum of patients. These are subsequently uploaded to a secure server where ear specialists can provide a remote diagnosis.
This technology and service-delivery model has the potential to provide ear and hearing health services in areas where there are no professionals and where the need is most dire.
