Workshop on ear and hearing telehealth: future developments

Course content and target audience
 
Updates and demonstrations on the latest developments in ear and hearing telehealth/teleaudiology will be presented and will include topics such as:
  • Telehealth for ears: what, how and why
  • Tele-audiology-related ethics
  • Current status of telehealth in ear and hearing healthcare
  • Computer-assisted diagnosis
  • Video-otoscopy: current evidence
  • Automated audiometry: current evidence
  • Tele-intervention: current evidence
  • Examples of current tele-audiology services in South Africa

Keynote speakers:
Prof Robert Eikelboom, Ear Science Institute Australia; Ear Sciences Centre, School of Surgery, the University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia ; and the Departmentt of Communication Pathology, University of Pretoria
 
Prof De Wet Swanepoel, Department of Communication Pathology, University of Pretoria;  and Senior Research Fellow of the Ear Science Institute Australia, as well as the Ear Sciences Centre, School of Surgery at The University of Western Australia, Perth, Australia
 
Other speakers include practitioners currently engaged in telehealth-related services or research projects.
 
Course structure and venue
 
This is a half-day course presented at the Department of Communication Pathology, University of Pretoria, Hatfield Campus.
 
Parking is available in the Engineering Parkade for R20.
 
Assessment and accreditation
 
A certificate of attendance with 5 CPD points (1 ethics point) will be issued to all delegates.
 
Course fee

The course fee is R450 per delegate and includes all course notes, tea and refreshments. The course fee for early registration (before 15 February 2013) is R400.
