Cochlear Implant Workshop: Do they meet expectations?

Posted on June 24, 2013

Course Date
1 August 2013

Course Contents

As a result of neonatal hearing screening and subsequent early cochlear implantation profoundly deaf children have access to important information to master spoken language skills at a young age. Nevertheless, outcome measures still reveal great variability in individual performance with some children with CI(s) acquiring language skills within normal limits while performance of other children remains far below average.

This half day course focuses on understanding the causes of this variation which allows clinicians to offer better prognoses to CI candidates and efficient follow-up and rehabilitation.
