Objectives

Mission Statement

The mission of the SENTECH Broadband Wireless Multimedia Communications (BWMC) Chair is to participate in forefront research activities in the field of Broadband Multimedia Communications and to deliver world-class research and educational outputs for the benefit of SENTECH, the University and the RSA in general.

Purpose

• To promote study and research in the field of mobile broadband multimedia communications networks, products and services.
• Collaborate on SENTECH’s related products.
• Further interaction between academic institutions and the industry in general and specifically between UP and SENTECH.
• Further education and teaching specifically in the fields of RF Communications, Digital Transmission Technology, Digital Network Technology, Telecommunication and Speech Processing on an undergraduate and post-graduate level in unison with the research and product development efforts of the SENTECH BWMC Chair.
• To develop high quality technical skills and expertise for industry and the research fraternity.
• To produce Masters and Doctoral research outputs, high quality publications, prototypes and products.
• To address the historical imbalances of the past and Women in Engineering Innovation.
• To contribute to the global competitiveness of Africa and South Africa in particular.
