Prof William Gumede, who is the Chairperson of Democracy Works Foundation and a Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand’s School of Governance, presented at the Conversation Series.

His presentation was titled ‘The performance of South Africa as a democratic, capable and developmental state’, which discussed various challenges facing the South African government and further proposed solutions in line with the developmental trajectory of South Africa. The Conversation Series was attended by academic staff and students from the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, who found the discussion fruitful in building a developmental state in South Africa.
