Eight new caps in Tuks line-up

Posted on January 30, 2009

Bosman is not eligible for selection any longer since there is an age limit of 25 in the Varsity Cup.
Flanker Danie Crous, who represented the Bulls u.21 said last year, is the only other new cap who has played Varsity Cup rugby. He and Johan were TUT teammates last year.
The four other new caps in die starting line-up are Piet-Piet Swart (fullback), Elwyn Fransman (right wing), JC Roos (fly half), and Branco Visagie (tight head prop).
Swart can be one of Tuks’ biggest back line assets. He is a highly regarded sevens player who inter alia captained the Bulls in 2007 when they won the national title.
Elwyn had an outstanding season with Centurion’s Carlton Cup team last year. He is a real speedster.
JC only finished school in 2008 (at Waterkloof High School). He is a prolific kicker who played for the Bulls at the u.18 Craven Week in Pretoria.
Visagie is also a young player. He made his debut for the Bulls’ u.19 team last year.
There are three players on the bench, who have not yet played for Tukkies. They are hooker Chris Crous, loose forward Ntokozo Mashele and scrum half Christiaan van den Berg.
Crous is an export from the Tuks Rugby Academy, Mashele in 2008 played for the Bulls’ u.19 side, while Van den Berg even did better by representing the Lions’ Vodacom Cup and u.21 team.
