Tuks make it 11 from 12 in Carlton League

Posted on July 12, 2009

It was not Tuks’ best performance of the season, but still an improvement on the effort in the first round when the defending champions struggled to beat TUT 14-7.

Tuks wasted a lot of opportunities due to bad finishing and poor judgment and they were not always solid enough on the defense. The too many missed first tackles could have been much more costly was it not for TUT’s below par finishing.

Tuks now have 51 points in Section X, 21 clear of second placed Silver Valke (34).

Tuks finish their group commitments on Friday, 17 July when they play Silver Valke away. There will be a lot at stake for the home team as it can still qualify for a semi-final spot. Tuks can take nothing for granted.

Tuks’ Fanie Booysen is the new top try scorer with 16 Carlton Cup tries, one clear of Police’s Jacques Erasmus.

Bennie Bester, Hein Pretorius and Donovan Marais scored Tuks’ tries against TUT. The rest of the points were added by Stanley Twiname (conversion, penalty goal) and Shaun Davids (penalty goal).
