Tuks won 96-0 (47-0 at the break), a significant result bearing in mind that the visitors will field the same side for the 2014 Community Cup competition that commences on 8 March.
It is, however, only fair to Ferro’s to put the result into perspective. It might not have been Tuks’ best team on paper, but still one that would have done the University proud in even a very competitive series like Varsity Cup. In the starting line-up there were, for instance, 10 players who have already represented the Blue Bulls at either Vodacom Cup or provincial u.21 level.
Tuks’ last warm-up match before the start of the Assupol Series is on March 1 against Pretoria Police at their new HQ in Totius Street, Groenkloof (the former home of the now disbanded Pretoria Rugby Club).
Tuks scorers against Ferro’s:
Tries: Damian van Wyk (4), Dwight Pansegrauw (2), Malcolm Theo (2), Chippie Kruger, Ghost Britz, Lood de Jager, Clinton Swart, Graham Logan and Clyde Davids. Conversions: Swart (10) and Theo (3).
