TuksRugby : Unbeaten UP-Tuks will take nothing for granted

Posted on February 18, 2014

Consequently seven of the eight participants still have a realistic chance of at least making the semi–finals. Only five points separate UP-Tuks in the first place (11) from Shimlas in 7th position on the log (6).

Pote Human, UP-Tuks’ head coach, had mixed feelings about his team's performance against Shimlas.

"The more we win, the more our confidence and momentum will gain. However, we can and will not rest on our laurels, because UCT will back themselves to beat us on Monday in Cape Town after two impressive away wins against first Maties and then NMMU.”

“I have no doubt at all that we will have our work cut out and the visit to the Green Mile pose our biggest character test of the season so far. Our planning strategy is such that we want to improve with every match. We are not there yet as our single biggest challenge still is our finishing as again identified as a critical problem area against Shimlas. We will find have to find the right balance so that opportunities can be converted into points more regularly. Our strike record in this regard is not clinical enough," the coach said.

UP-Tuks’ tries were scored by Roelof Smit, Wiaan Liebenberg and Reniel Hugo. Man of the Match Tian Schoeman succeeded with all three conversions and a penalty goal.

In the Young Guns series defending champions Tuks u.20 beat their Shimla counterparts 28-24.
