"Realism and Psychological Science"

We are very excited to announce Prof Maree's new book, 'Realism and Psychological Science', published by #Springer. He briefly argue that the idea of #science we have formed through our training and practices is wrong. Science in #psychology is regarded as largely positivistic involving measurement and experiment and the only fitting method for #socialsciences is #qualitativebecause it deals with meaningful experience. However, a #realist view accommodates both, puts measurement in its place as one way of getting to know things and acknowledges the critical slant of #constructionism and qualitative approaches as fundamental to science. Of course, this is done with qualifications and specifications!
