Dr Govender joined the Faculty Veterinary Science in September 2018 as a lecturer in Veterinary Public Health. Previous work experience includes small animal practice, community outreach and national government. Master’s degree project involved collaboration between the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, National Institute for Communicable Diseases, US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Agricultural Research Council, and the University of Pretoria’s faculties of Health Science and Veterinary Science. The article is currently being reviewed for publication. Intended PhD candidacy in 2019.
Research Expertise/Interest
Public health, epidemiology (outbreak investigations, disease surveillance and disease control), risk assessment, trade of animals/animal products, antimicrobial resistance, zoonoses, food safety and other topics in One-Health.
