Media liaison
- Head: Marketing and Communication acts as “spokesperson” of the Faculty, in conjunction with the Dean (“CEO” of media affairs)
- Press releases / media enquiries / media monitoring
- Refer media to experts in Faculty
- Advice about media to departments and information about media trends to Dean’s office
- Corporate and defensive PR in conjunction with the Dean
Publications and marketing material
Production of corporate publications and other marketing material
Assist departments with advice about corporate identity, production of brochures, pamphlets and posters, and liaise with design houses, printers and UP’s Corporate Communication and Marketing Department.
Compilation of contents for Faculty publications as well as information for the UP Annual Year Review, Tukkievaria, OP News and other UP publications
Event management
- Selected corporate functions, e.g. Alumni of the Faculty and other events identified by the Dean
- Informal events to promote internal communication, for example annual Sports Day of the Faculty
- Facilitate selected events with regard to sponsors and students
Website
- Liaison with departments about faculty website
- Coordinate and facilitate updating of website
- Generate information for website
Recruitment of prospective students
- Awareness and recruitment campaign
- Visits to schools, exhibitions, career days and expos
- Identify appropriate regions and events for recruitment campaign
Corporate and other visits to the Faculty
- Facilitate, coordinate and conduct corporate visits to the Faculty
- Assist departments with visits to the Faculty
- Organise visits for prospective students (groups) (Ms Lesego Teffu)
- Corporate visits to the Faculty must be coordinated with the Division

Ad hoc marketing and communication activities
- Assist with writing speeches, corporate messages (e.g. website and other publications)
- Correspondence on behalf of the Dean with relevant role players such as MEC Offices, Directors of Veterinary Services, Portfolio Committee: Agriculture, FAO etc.
- Visits to provinces, MECs, Directors of Veterinary Services etc as part of the Faculty’s awareness campaign.
