Mental Well-Being in Education

The department of Educational Psychology we would like to promote Well-Being in education. Our JVB module 210-220 and 301 promotes student teachers developing competency’s in learning support and developing knowledge in understanding emotional difficulties and specific mental issues which are very relevant, and especially more so, now with the Covid-19 pandemic. We are of the impression schools are in need of support from teachers to be able to observe ‘red flag’ learners and direct them through the appropriate channels to receive support and guidance. Furthermore students from these modules are given the skills to notify parents when extreme situations arise and them being mindful of their scope and role as teachers, not overstepping their boundaries.
