The seminar addressed the relationship between law, poverty and justice from numerous perspectives and dealt with a variety of themes, such as debt relief, housing, property law, contract law, procedure, public interest litigation, constitutional law, and legal and political theory. Academics and students from various UP faculties and other South African universities, and representatives of NGOs and legal practices participated.
The seminar concluded with a round-table discussion of the recent Constitutional Court judgment in Schubart Park Residents’ Association and Others v City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality and Another (CCT 23/12) [2012] ZACC 26 (9 October 2012).
