There was a buzz of energy when Life Orientation teachers and career counsellors representing schools in Gauteng, Ekurhuleni, Mpumalanga and Limpopo visited the University of Pretoria (UP) on Thursday, 5 November 2015. The JuniorTukkie* Office of the Department of Enrolment and Student Administration hosted the teachers’ and career counsellors’ visit at the University’s Groenkloof Campus.
We recognise the key role that Life Orientation teachers and career counsellors play in guiding learners to make responsible study and career choices. The event was organised to provide us with an opportunity to inform these teachers and counsellors about all aspects relating to the application process at the University of Pretoria. All nine faculties presented their highlights of the year and informed the teachers and counsellors of changes in their programmes and admission requirements.
The positive attitude of the teachers and counsellors was inspiring and the dedication of every UP staff member involved in this successful event was exemplary.

*The JuniorTukkie programme was established to assist learners in Grades 10, 11 and 12 to make responsible study and career choices. JuniorTukkie also develops important skills to better equip learners for the challenges they may face as students, both in their personal lives and in their studies. The JuniorTukkie programme offers a wide variety of services to learners and students, including first-hand information on study and career options, the development of leadership qualities, life skills and study skills, and engagement in community projects.
