On Saturday, 15 August 2015, twelve JuniorTukkie Student Society members had the opportunity to attend the LeadSA #ChangeMakers Conference at the University of Johannesburg’s Kingsway Campus. The event gave like-minded people who are doing great things within their communities and the rest of the country, the opportunity to network, share stories and inspire a positive change and active citizenry in the country.

Throughout the Conference, a number of high level speakers shared their knowledge and personal journeys to those in attendance. This included motivational talks as well as panel discussions on social challenges that communities face on a regular basis. The students were also given the opportunity to engage with the speakers. A number of charity organisations as well as non-profit organisations had set up stalls in an effort to create awareness about the projects which they are involved in as a means of recruiting more young people to get involved with their initiatives.

All the students had a wonderful time and left the Conference motivated and inspired with the prospect to bring change to the lives of the less fortunate.
