#ChooseUP LUCKY DRAWS (STUDY BURSARIES & PRIZES)
T E R M S A N D C O N D I T I O N S
The University of Pretoria will be hosting a virtual #ChooseUP information event on Saturday, 15 August 2020. This event forms part of the University's #ChooseUP campaign. For this awesome event, you have four (4) opportunities to possibly win a R20 000 study bursary and/or some prizes. Read about these opportunities below:
NOTE: Winners automatically grant permission to the University of Pretoria to use a photo or video of yourself in publications, news releases, online, and in other communications related to the #ChooseUP campaign.
STUDY BURSARY DRAW 1:
APPLICABLE TO STUDENTS WHO RSVP FOR THE LIVE #ChooseUP EVENT ON 15 AUGUST 2020
Winners in this category are:
- Only students who received an invitation to the virtual #ChooseUP Event and have completed the RSVP form will be eligible for this draw. Please ensure that you complete all the fields to qualify.
- Random electronic draws will be performed using the database of students who have RSVP'd for the live virtual #ChooseUP event, to be held on 15 August 2020.
- RSVP’s must be received before or at the latest by 14 August 2020 at 10:00. RSVP’s received after 14 August 10:00 will not be eligible for the draw.
- Winners will be drawn after the closing date of 14 August 2020 at 10:00; please take note of the closing date and time.
- Bursary winners will be contacted directly.
- Four (4) lucky draw winners will be announced at the end of the programme on 15 August 2020. This number has been increased to seven (7) lucky draw winners.
- Students who will be registering at UP as first-year students for the first time in 2021 and already have a student number are eligible for these bursaries.
- Bursaries are valid until the end of the registration period in 2021, and cannot be held over for studies that commence in 2022 or later.
- UP internal auditors will oversee the study bursary draw process.
- The student number and admission status of bursary winners will be checked prior to notifying the student that he/she is a winner.
- Only one (1) bursary per prospective student is allowed. Once a student’s name is drawn as a winner, their name will be removed from the database.
- Bursaries are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Winners are subject to the University of Pretoria’s admission requirements, selection procedures and general bursary rules and conditions.
- The bursary amount may be used for payment of a students' registration fee (ie the initial fee of R5 000).
- The University of Pretoria's decision is final.
STUDY BURSARY DRAW 2:
APPLICABLE TO STUDENTS WHO COMPLETED THE SURVEY AFTER THE VIRTUAL #ChooseUP EVENT
- Only students who received an invitation to the virtual #ChooseUP Event, RSVP’d and completed the survey from 15 August until 21 August 2020, closing time at 10:00, will stand a chance to win a bursary.
- Random electronic bursary draws will be performed using the database of these students.
- Fifteen (15) lucky draw bursary winners will be announced on 24 August 2020.
- Bursary winners will be contacted directly.
- Students who will be registering at UP as first-year students for the first time in 2021 and already have a student number are eligible for these bursaries.
- Bursaries are valid until the end of the registration period in 2021, and cannot be held over for studies that commence in 2022 or later.
- UP internal auditors will oversee the bursary draw process.
- The student number and admission status of bursary winners will be checked prior to notifying the student that he/she is a winner. If you have been denied conditional admission or admission you will not be eligible for the award.
- Only one (1) bursary per prospective student is allowed. Once a student’s name is drawn as a winner, their name will be removed from the database.
- Bursaries are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- Winners are subject to the University of Pretoria's admission requirements, selection procedures and general bursary rules and conditions.
- The bursary amount may be used for payment of a students' registration fee (ie the initial fee of R5 000).
- The University of Pretoria's decision is final.
STUDY BURSARY DRAW 3:
APPLICABLE TO STUDENTS WHO ALREADY PAID THEIR INITIAL FEE OF R5 000 BEFORE OR ON 15 AUGUST 2020
- Random electronic bursary draws will be performed using the database of those students who already paid their initial fee before or on 15 August 2020 will stand a chance to win a study bursary.
- Three (3) lucky draw winners will be announced on 24 August 2020.
- Students who will be registering at UP as first-year students for the first time in 2021 and already have a student number are eligible for these bursaries.
- Bursaries are valid until the end of the registration period in 2021, and cannot be held over for studies that commence in 2022 or later.
- Bursaries are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- UP internal auditors will oversee the bursary draw process.
- The student number and admission status of bursary winners will be checked prior to notifying the student that he/she is a winner.
- Only one (1) bursary per prospective student is allowed in this draw. Once a student’s name is drawn as a winner, their name will be removed from the database.
- Winners of bursaries are subject to the University of Pretoria's admission requirements, selection procedures and general bursary rules and conditions.
- The University of Pretoria's decision is final.
STUDY BURSARY DRAW 4:
LAPTOP: SOCIAL MEDIA COMPETITION
APPLICABLE TO STUDENTS WHO REGISTER AND LOG IN FOR THE LIVE VIRTUAL #ChooseUP EVENT ON 15 AUGUST 2020
- To qualify prospective students must register for the Virtual #ChooseUP Day on or before 14 August 2020.
- Prospective students must attend the Virtual #ChooseUP Day.
- Prospective students must post a selfie on their social media page (Facebook or Instagram), dressed in or showcasing an element of their chosen profession with the hashtag #IChooseUP.
- Random electronic bursary draws will be performed using the database of those prospective students who posted their pictures on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #IChooseUP on or before 31 August 2020.
- Four (4) lucky draw winners will be announced on 24 August 2020. Note: This date has been extended to 6 September 2020.
- The first three (3) lucky draw winners will be awarded a study bursary worth R20 000 each and the fourth (4th) lucky draw winner will win a Asus Celeron 15.6” Notebook with 4GB Ram,500GB Hdd Win 10 Home 1 year Warranty valued at R6000.00 (VAT Incl.)
- A post will be placed on social media announcing the winners on 24 August 2020. Note: This date has been extended to 6 September 2020.
- Students who will be registering at UP as first-year students for the first time in 2021 and already have a student number are eligible for these bursaries or notebook.
- Bursaries and notebook are valid until the end of the registration period in 2021, and cannot be held over for studies that commence in 2022 or later.
- Bursaries and notebook are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
- UP internal auditors will oversee the bursary and notebook draw process.
- The student number and admission status of bursary or notebook winners will be checked prior to notifying the student that he/she is a winner.
- Only one (1) bursary and (1) notebook per prospective student is allowed in this draw. Once a student’s name is drawn as a winner, their name will be removed from the database.
- Winners of bursaries or notebook are subject to the University of Pretoria's admission requirements, selection procedures and general bursary rules and conditions.
- By virtue of entering the social media competition, prospective students give the University permission to use their images on #ChooseUP campaign 2020/2021.
- The University of Pretoria's decision is final.
LUCKY PRIZE DRAW 1:
APPLICABLE TO STUDENTS WHO REGISTER AND LOG IN FOR THE LIVE VIRTUAL #ChooseUP EVENT ON 15 AUGUST 2020
- Your completed registration form and your login on the day serve as your entry. Please ensure that you complete all the fields to qualify.
- Random electronic lucky draws will be performed using the database of students who have registered and logged in to the Virtual #ChooseUP event, to be held on 15 August 2020.
- Names will be drawn at 09:00 on 15 August 2020.
- Students who login after 09:00 will not be eligible for the draws.
- Winners will be announced during the programme.
- Three (3) lucky draw hamper winners will be announced.
- UP internal auditors will oversee the bursary draw process.
- The student number and admission status of prize winners will be checked prior to notifying the student that he/she is a winner.
- Only one (1) prize per prospective student is allowed. Once a student’s name is drawn as a winner, their name will be removed from the database.
- Prizes are not transferable and cannot be exchanged for cash.
