South African Actuaries Development Programme

The South African Actuaries Development Programme (SAADP) is an independent, non-profit company that was established with the backing of SASRIA Ltd. The programme seeks to actively address the problem of the acute shortage of actuarial skills in the black community in South Africa.

The mission of this programme is to inspire young black students to take up Actuarial science as a profession by availing resources that are required to achieve that objective. This programme is made possible through the generosity of our funding donors: SASRIA LTD, INSETA, Alexander Forbes Community Trust, First Rand Foundation, Shanduka Foundation and the Road Accident Fund. The programme is open to Actuarial Science students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds, who have achieved good results in Grade 12, and at University level during their undergraduate studies.

The bursary covers tuition, residence, meals, living allowances and book fees. The bursary is renewable each year pending good academic performance. The full time programme managers based at each partner university ensures that our students are taken good care of. They offer academic and social support, additional tutorials, mentorship, etc.
