On 4 May 2022 the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies held its annual awards ceremony.
As is customary, the award ceremony dwells upon a specific and appropriate theme. The theme of the award ceremony this year was “adaptability,” summed up in a quote by Peter Hilton that “Adaptability to change is itself a mark of successful education”.
The awards ceremony was an opportunity for the department to celebrate the achievements of its students and to recognise outstanding achievement in what has been a very challenging environment.
The awards ceremony was held virtually and was organised and coordinated by Danolien van den Berg, Lecturer in the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies.
Students were welcomed by Head of Department, Prof Karen Harris, before Ms van den Berg explained the choice of theme for the award ceremony and the broader need to recognise the importance of adaptability in a modern and fast-changing world. Each of the awards were handed over by the lecturers of the respective modules.
The Department of Historical and Heritage Studies would like to extend its congratulations to each of the awardees. The video of the proceedings can be viewed on Youtube or at the end of the article.
