The Department of History, Heritage, and Cultural Tourism (DHHCT), previously the Department of Historical and Heritage Studies (DHHS), offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses and degrees in History and Heritage and Cultural Tourism. At the DHHCT, your lecturers will equip you with knowledge, skills, and professional training to succeed in your studies and professional career, both locally and on international soil, and give students the opportunity to study abroad further.
At the DHHT, we pride ourselves on the education and training of graduates who can think critically and creatively, solve problems and are adaptable to change. We develop future historians, museologists, heritage and cultural tourism specialists, entrepreneurs, and various other professions through theoretical understanding and experiential learning techniques. We are here to support you in your studies from undergraduate to postgraduate.
In pursuing knowledge creation and distribution, our excellent staff members engage with several academic, community, industry, and government partners to ensure you are exposed to relevant information. Individually and working in teams, staff research various topics ranging from the ANC’s armed struggle against apartheid to the potential of film tourism in South Africa.
Please reach out to us whenever you have questions.
All the best with your studies!
