Professor Ian Phimister who heads up the Centre for Africa Studies invited the students to present papers on the range of sources on which their dissertations are based. These were presented to an audience comprising leading international and local academics, librarians and archivists. Each session was followed by questions and discussions on their work.
Students enrolled for the MHCS in History with Professor Karen Harris that participated were: Eleanor Bron, Colin du Plessis, Charlotte Erasmus, Paul Ludi, Nadine Moore, Sian Pretorius, Tamsin Raymond and Isabella Venter. The Head of Department of Historical and Heritage Studies, Professor Alois Mlambo and Professor Karen Harris also participated in the workshop as discussants. In addition, Professor Mlambo also participated in the two day post-doctoral workshop on Power and Coercion in Colonial and Postcolonial Africa hosted at the same time.
