2023/2024 Executive Committee

Teboho Sam Hlatshwayo - Chairperson

I serve as the spokesperson of Health House and oversee the activities of the EC. My role constitutes representing the Faculty student body on various committees and maintaining the relationships between different stakeholders within the Faculty and greater University. As chairperson, I wish to achieve greater integration between disciplines. To encourage inter-professional learning and activities to allow students to grow their network in the academic world beyond the peers in their degrees. One of the bigger events to look forward to is a collaborative event with OPVSc. This event will include multiple degrees from both faculties and allow a space for students to learn from each other’s degrees. The event will tackle the important basic skills that students need to learn and also allow students to learn of how to care for species outside of their field.

Lungile Mkhabela - Vice Chairperson & Community Engagement

As a vice Chairperson, my role is more of a supporting role to all members of Health House. Community Engagement being my passion child focuses on the outreach value of student development. It is for enforcing social responsibility as a structure internally and externally with focus on Communitites close to us as well as the students of the health sciences. One exciting prospect project is endorsing the Food parcel project with a Vegetable garden project on our campus. A core goal I am looking to achieve.during my term is to foster collaboration and innovation in community Engagement projects to create long lasting impact. I am also driving various initiatives for RAG (Reach Out and Give) day, where we are collaborating with Law House.

Nicole Sutton - Vice Chairperson & Academic Officer

As Vice Chairperson, I endeavour to assist our chairperson in his duties and maintain positive working relationships with all EC members. I would like to contribute to Health House by raising awareness about the important role of our structure amongst the students and encouraging participation in events. I would like to contribute to our vision of integration by hosting events that are inclusive and encourage interdisciplinary activities or bonds.  One event that I am particularly looking forward to, is the Health House ‘fun run’ in March 2024 to introduce the new First-year students to a balanced student life. This will take place in collaboration with the FSA as a food parcel drive. As Academic Officer, I would like to equip students in our faculty with the necessary tools to balance their academics with other aspects of their lives. This involves addressing matters like effective time management, dealing with exam stress or anxiety and accessing student support structures. I am involved in finding and implementing solutions regarding any academic-related concerns or grievances. I would like to use the opportunity offered by T&L meetings to be a voice for the student body.

Rorisang Mokotjo - Secretary

My role as secretary includes the overall maintenance of the EC, dealing with inter committee communications, organising the office and meetings and ensuring venue booking. My goal is to revolutionise what it means to be a secretary so that it’s not as tedious and taxing as it’s known to be.

Keven Ntsinjana - Treasurer & Sport Officer

The Sports portfolio is designed to provide students with an academic breather. We strive to engage students in physical activities and foster social interactions among those with a shared passion for sports. We partake in events organized by the Student Sport Committee (SSC) and also host our own events, encouraging student participation. While we appreciate a spirited competition, our primary goal is to promote fun and physical health. By the end of the term, we aspire to provide students with unrestricted access to various sports, ensuring they have an enjoyable experience. Planned events : Inter-Faculty House Tournaments, Inter-Subhouse Tournaments, Full Participation in Competitions held by SSC.

Janet Stroh - Transformation Officer

This year will be full of fun filled empowering activities. Be expected for fantastic events like Womans health and beauty day with a pamper pack and we did not forget the men there is the same for you. Exam stress will be something of the past with our "END Exam Stress" workshops ass well as time management courses. Business empowering and language development is also on the calender. This year we will ensure you are fully equipped and that students voices are heard throughout all faculties.

Georgia Evangelelis - Sub-House Liaison

As a sub-house liaison, my main role is to ensure that I manage and oversee all the sub-houses registered under the Faculty of Health Sciences. This means that I need to facilitate a safe and cohesive environment to be able to link the sub-houses with one another as well as with the Faculty. I do not have events as this is mainly an admin and managerial role, however we would like to start a tradition of having a Sub-House Awards Evening to award and thank the sub-houses for their services throughout their term.

Mmatshepo Mbatsane - Social & Internal Culture Officer
