Congratulations to Lindelani Nethamba for being nominated as a finalist for the 2024 SAIIE Awards for Best Paper Published in the South African Journal of Industrial Engineering (SAJIE).
Her paper is titled The Development of an Action Priority Matrix and Technology Roadmap for the Implementation of Data-Driven and Machine-Learning-Based Predictive Maintenance in the South African Railway Industry. The paper was based on her mini-dissertation research, supervised by Dr Schalk Grobbelaar.
Lindelani is a seasoned metallurgical engineer specialising in the railway industry, known for optimising the performance and longevity of rolling components. With a strong background in quality assurance and asset integrity, she integrates AI technologies into maintenance practices and predictive maintenance initiatives. She developed a specialised technology roadmap for data-driven decision-making and machine learning, setting industry benchmarks. Her work has been featured in the International Annual Conference of the American Society for Engineering Management (Huntsville, 2022) and the South African Journal of Industrial Engineering (Nov 2023). She also served as a panellist for ASEM's Next Generation Panel.
