The inaugural Timber Construction Conference, themed “Growing Timber Connections”, occurred on 12 September 2023 and was held at Future Africa Pretoria. The Conference aimed to promote the widespread adoption of timber construction throughout South Africa, showcasing its numerous benefits and exploring its vast potential. The Conference brought together industry experts, government officials, academics and thought leaders who shared their knowledge, insights, and experiences. The Conference was concluded by announcing the York Timbers Design Competition winners. The Conference was considered a significant success, and the second event planned for September 2024 promises to build on the first and increase connectivity and collaboration between interested parties.
