The social component of ESG in an infrastructure context is often associated with RDP housing and the eradication of inadequate sanitation systems. Although this aim to address the social needs of communities that need it the most, the implementation of these programmes however is often clouded by matters around mismanagement, bad media and lack of transparency. It unfortunately also reflects on government’s inability to deliver the infrastructure required to put South Africa on the growth trajectory everyone is hoping for.
