Prof Elma van der Lingen has been appointed from 1 June as professor at Graduate School of Technology Management (GSTM). She has been with GSTM since 2013 as contract associate professor and teaches a course on Technological Entrepreneurship as part of the Management of Technology Honours degree and is study leader to masters and PhD students. Elma has been involved for more than 20 years in precious metals (gold, platinum, palladium, ruthenium and iridium) R&D with specific focus on value addition and commercialisation of technology in the fields of metallurgy, catalysis and nanotechnology. She obtained her PhD in 1998 from UP in the Department of Metallurgical Engineering and Materials Science. Elma has initiated, developed and led various projects for government departments, local and international industries and institutes. She has published widely in peer reviewed journals and conference proceedings on precious metals and more recently technology management.
