In his thesis, Engineering project management in the international context: A Chinese culture-based exploratory and comparative evaluation, the promovendus followed an explorative research approach in order to identify and assess the cultural behavioural differences between two focus groups of engineering project managers in China and South Africa. As a further contribution, a conceptual model was developed and evaluated to indicate and explore the relationships between cultural differences, project activities and risk mitigation methods. The doctoral research contributes to the knowledge of managing engineering and construction projects in multicultural environments in the international context, specifically relating to the Chinese and South African environments. The candidate has already published peer-reviewed papers emanating from this research at five international conferences.
