Degrees offered and admission

Two degrees are offered, i.e. BEng (Hons)(Engineering and Technology Management), BSc(Hons) (Engineering and Technology Management)

Honours Degree

A limited number of applicants are admitted to this degree

The admission requirements:

BEng Hons (Engineering and Technology Management)

  1. Relevant four-years bachelor’s degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
  2. Mathematics passed with an achievement level of at least 5 (60%-69%) in the final NSC/IEB examination (NQF level 4) or equivalent
  • The departmental Postgraduate Committee reserves the right to make a thorough assessment of the applicant’s academic transcript and to decide if the applicant may be admitted.

 

Important Note

  1. A TOEFL or IELTS test and certificate will be required of candidates who have not studied the pre-requisite qualifications through the medium of English.
  2. Candidates with foreign (Non South African) qualifications must ensure that their undergraduate as well as postgraduate pre-requisite qualifications are evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (https://www.saqa.org.za/) and that a SAQA Certificate of Evaluation is obtained. Note that obtaining such certificates can take up to three months.
  3. Candidates must ensure that the above-mentioned certificates are included with their application to avoid being denied.

 

 

BSc Hons (Engineering and Technology Management)

​Relevant bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences (NQF level 7) with a weighted average of at least 65% over all the final-year modules (failed and passed)

and

Mathematics passed with an achievement level of at least 5 (60%-69%) in the final NSC/IEB examination (NQF level 4) or equivalent

or

relevant BTech degree (NQF level 7) with a weighted average of at least 65% over all the final-year modules (failed and passed)
and
Mathematics passed with an achievement level of at least 5 (60%-69%) in the final NSC/IEB examination (NQF level 4) or equivalent

or

relevant Advanced Diploma (NQF level 7) with a weighted average of at least 65% over all the final-year modules (failed and passed)
and
Mathematics passed with an achievement level of at least 5 (60%-69%) in the final NSC/IEB examination (NQF level 4) or equivalent

or

relevant honours degree (NQF level 8)

and
Mathematics passed with an achievement level of at least 5 (60%-69%) in the final NSC/IEB examination (NQF level 4) or equivalent
