Prof Laura McCloskey was recently appointed a Fulbright scholar in the Faculty of Education. She is Professor of Public Health and Director of the Center for Research on Health Disparities at Indiana University.
Prof McCloskey’s doctorate is in Psychology (developmental) from the University of Michigan and I she has held faculty appointments in psychology (University of Arizona), social work (University of Pennsylvania) and public health (Harvard University).
Her research program examines the impact of domestic violence on children and the health effects of violence against women. The Fulbright scholar grant she received is to study the effects of HIV on women and their children, building on the unique longitudinal Kgolo Mmogo project set in Tshwane.
