Prof Kobus Maree of the Department of Educational Psychology recently received the Psychological Society of South Africa (PsySSA)’s Award for Excellence in Science during the 20th South African Psychology Congress.

The award was made in acknowledgement of Prof Maree’s significant contributions to psychological science and the national and global recognition he enjoys as a leading researcher, lecturer, teacher, scholar and thinker in the field of career counselling, as evidenced by his many scholarly publications, which include books, chapters in books and articles in leading national and international journals, and the numerous invitations he receives to present papers locally and internationally.

Prof Maree specialises in career counselling and life design, which includes the advancement of an integrated, qualitative and quantitative approach to career counselling, and helps individuals to overcome the shackles of a poor background by giving them hope.
