Erika Residence Management

House Parents

DOC AND MARGARET JORISSEN - SINCE JANUARY 1989

Past and present Erika residents may reflect on how this prestigious women's residence has unfolded, grown and blossomed over the past 45 years, to become a symbol and bastion for us all. What a privilege it has been to live with you as house parents and to be able to share a home with so many young women with bubbling purple blood in their veins. What struck us first in January 1989 – and will remain with us always – is the spontaneous spirit of sincerity and harmony that prevails in House Erika, and flows even more strongly now, 24 years later.

House Erika is a real home for every resident. Erika strives, through effective residence management, to offer each resident the best opportunities to develop their human potential in terms of academic, spiritual, social and sporting dimensions. In doing so, communal ideals may be realised. Reaching such ideals is strongly dependent on a positive attitude in realising one's potential by striving for one's own goals.

Being a leading women's residence with extreme dynamism and style, traditions and key success factors are passed on to our first year students, from generation to generation, namely:

  • Involvement;
  • Loyalty;
  • Spontaneity;
  • Friendship;
  • Service; &
  • Unquenchable spirit.

We would like to express a few words of sincere thanks to House Erika and all her residents, past and present, for all the love, empathy and respect which we have received over the years, and continue to receive. It is an honour and a wonderful experience for us to serve House Erika as house parents. Therefore it is our privilege, as well as our duty, to carry out this task with all our knowledge and strength – so that our honest aspiration remains:

AD DESTINATUM PERSEQUOR

With sincere Erika greetings
