Admission to ENGAGE

Students may apply for ENGAGE if:

  • their marks in the National Senior Certificate meet the admission requirements for the four-year program, but they feel they would like more support.

OR

  • their marks in the National Senior Certificate do not meet the minimum requirements for entry into the four-year program, but do meet the minimum requirements for the five-year program.

In addition to the minimum rating codes that are shown in the table below, an Admission Points Score (APS) calculation is required. The calculation of an APS is simple and is based on a candidate’s achievement in six recognised 20-credit subjects. The APS uses the National Senior Certificate scale of achievement, from 1 to 7. Thus, the highest APS that can be achieved is 42. Life Orientation is excluded from the calculation to determine the APS required for admission.

Candidates must apply in Grade 12 with their Grade 11 results and, on the basis of these marks, they will be accepted provisionally to the School of Engineering. Note that the final Grade 12 results will be the determining factor with regard to admission.

Closing dates for applications:

  • SA – 30 June
  • Non-SA – 30 June
