Prof Joubert appointed at the University of Kentucky

Posted on October 14, 2013

Prof Joubert has visited the University of Kentucky (UKY) on a number of occasions for her own research, particularly in the field of educational law and educational leadership. UKY is also a partner of the International Symposium on Education Reform (ISER) group, with the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, East China Normal University in Sjanghai and the University of Pretoria.

UP’s Faculty of Education will benefit from Prof Joubert’s appointment through the exposure she will get to the teaching of and research on educational law and educational leadership on master’s degree level. The international exposure will also count in her and the Faculty’s favour. UKY is a leading university internationally when it comes to teaching educational law through technology. According to Prof Joubert, UKY is using the internet, social media and blogs to keep teachers up to date with the latest on educational law in schools.

There are important resemblances between the state of Kentucky and South Africa. “Both areas have students who lives far from the university and great parts of the state Kentucky is country districts, as in South Africa”, she says.

Prof Joubert and Dr Jean van Rooyen are organising next year’s ISER Simposium here in South Africa, which will also be attended by UKY.
