During the two-and-a-half day workshop, 24 papers were delivered. Over 30 academics and government officials attended the workshop. Topics ranged from foreign direct investment flows between South Africa and China, the effect of labour regulations on South African firm performance, to the relationship between uncompetitive agricultural value chains and poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa, to name a few.
