In his Address he focused on Roy's (1951) model, as well as the canonical selection problem in microeconometrics. He also discussed the recent review of the Department of Economics as well as the Department's response to the review, where he described the Department's pillars of quality research, quality teaching and impactful marketing that are to be underpinned by a new educational anchor in the Department. He concluded by challenging the Department of Economics to think beyond what is known to appropriately deal with the changing environment, maintain the Department's core activities and increase its contribution to society and knowledge creation.
