A New Era

Dregeana Day House!

We as Vividus Men is taking a major step in rebranding ourselves.  Some might ask why? We have taken the initiative to explain all these reasons.

The main reasons for the Name & Logo changes are as follows:

  1. Transformation from an External Perception
  2. Transformation in the Future
  3. Own Identity

On a large scale the external perception of Vividus Men Day House is that we are only a White, Afrikaans House.  This is a perception that has changed largely over the past few years from an internal point of view.  It, however has not changed much from an outside perspective.

Throughout the year we did many things to create campus awareness and change the perception that external parties have.  Examples of these initiatives were the painting on the wall, the articles around Vividus Men and the reallocation of our office, the interview on TuksFM and a few other campaigns.  The last initiative we discussed was to change the name of the House.  We truly believe that this will benefit the House on three fundamental aspects.

Transformation from an External Perception:

Vividus Men is constantly continuing to transform as a Day House.  Statistically we have a very close to 50%/50% demographically diversified House.  Not only speaking from a membership point of view, the House has done a lot of effort over the past 4-5 years to start transforming in the direction of the University of Pretoria and stay relevant to students and student life.  However the external perception has not changed a lot and the Afrikaans, White perception from outside the House remains.

It is with this that we felt the need to change the House’s name.  The big link to the external perception is the name and logo of the House.  We believe that with the change of the name and the logo we will have the opportunity to change the perception completely since it gives us a big chance to state the transformation that has occurred over the last few years in the House and display the transformation of the House as it is in its current state.  This can be instrumental in changing how external parties view us and give us an opportunity to reach more people.

Transformation in the Future:

Vividus Men is a place where transformation is viewed as very important.  We strive to include all our members in all our events and make our events attractive for people from the outside.  We want to include the broader student population in the journey where we want to build a better social environment for all people.

We believe that changing the name of the House will be an immense step in the direction of showing how transformation works and show how we strive to remain relevant to our people.  We believe that by changing the name and logo we give ourselves a great opportunity to change the view of the outside world and through this transform on a bigger scale to be a positive change that the University of Pretoria can be proud of.

Own Identity:

Although Vividus Men and Vividus Ladies were once a single Day House and for numerous years it has been two different Houses it is still seen by many people as one entity.  Vividus Men feel it is crucial for us to create our own identity away from Vividus Ladies and the only reason for this is that we want to develop our own Pride in our own “brand”.  We want to strive for success on our own fundamental values and make sure the members of the House find the value in the House as it is and not as it once was when we were one House with Vividus Ladies.
