Vividus Men 2015 Year in Review
2015 was another memorable year in the history of the Sons of Thunder. Laced with the “Ying and Yang” of challenges and victories; Vividus Men Day House went into 2016 as a force to be reckoned with on every basis of activity and involvement on offer at the University of Pretoria.
A signup of hundreds of first years from all corners of South Africa and international students brought diversification and fresh spirit to the House. This spirit was immediately imminent in the o-week mass dates, socials and Ienkmelodienk. Labelled as the “gentlemen on campus”, the Vividus Nergies quickly followed the seniors’ example.
Following directly after welcoming week, RAG week gave the house an opportunity to meet our RAG partners at the time, the ladies of Madelief. The RAG theme for the year was Mad Thunder, the spirit on the day was contagious and set the tone for the rest of the year.
Vividus Men participated and fared well in sport throughout the year. Achievement was not astray on the sports field as podium positions in Ienk basketball and hockey were attained. The six-aside cricket team narrowly missed out on a third place finish. The efforts from our dedicated sportsmen earned Vividus Men the award for sports excellence at the Sports Awards evening.
Known for our cultural achievements, Vividus Men did not disappoint on this front. Ienkmelodienk started the year off on a high note and aided the house in having the resilience to do very well in cultural events later in the year. Narrowly missing on a finals spot in Serrie and placing second to serenade, though many would argue that Vividus Men deserved to walk away with the 1st Place honours for a second year running.
2015 was a year to remember in the history of Vividus Men, a new year brought a new EC living up to “full of life”. Many a soul could only expect the coming year to be nothing short of spectacular, successful and ground-breaking.
The new EC look forward to leading the new members into another memorable and exciting year.
