Hear Me Out

Hear Me out was written, directed and produced by Khopotso Seopela, founder of K In His Midst Productions in collaboration with the Drama Department of the University of Pretoria. Her passion is creating content that resonates with the nation and addresses social issues. She communicates by writing authentic stories, with particular focus on that which affects the day to day life of the male child. Her original work is recognized and acknowledged by the Department of Social Development with the National Family Services division and also the Department of Education. It is her dream to see the world change, one male at a time!

The production is part of an awareness programme that highlights the absence of father figures in society and explores the negative impact this has on children. This absence of fathers has resulted in severe emotional abandonment, and has left thousands of male children distraught and having to head homes at a tender age. Hear Me Out serves as a catalyst to speak for them and to speak to them.

The production is aimed at the male child facing such abandonment, to help him find himself, find purpose in life, and make a difference in his immediate surroundings.  The intention of Hear Me Out is to equip the male child with the insights he needs to be able to handle the challenges he is faced with, and in the process attain a measure of emotional healing.

There are several platforms for female children to open up about such issues. Very seldom do we find relevant/similar platforms for boys. Hear Me Out aims to serve as that vital platform for the boy child. The cast is comprised of 1st, 2nd and 3rd year UP Drama students as well as Drama Department graduates.  A roll-out of the production at local theatres is planned from April onwards.

Price: R30 for students (please bring your student card) and learners, R40 for adults. Tickets will be sold at the door – No CASH, only CARD payments, please.
