Drama student named ‘best director’ at the 2014 Student Festival of the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown

Through the combination of new media technology, projection mapping and adapting the Tale of Bluebeard, the audience is taken on a magical and at times horrific journey through the breakdown of a relationship owing to mental illness. The evaluation panel consisted of three local industry professionals and an international member. 

The feedback from the panel was overwhelmingly positive and commented on the effective manner in which liveness and new media were integrated in the production. Davies’ MA study explores the role of technology in live performance as a tool to present varied treatments of time and space, using Barbe Bleue as a case study.
